Social media, video games, entertainment at our fingertips… all of these platforms want user attention as much as possible, because it’s good for their growth. The platforms are intelligently designed to elicit dopamine in the brain (think about the feeling one gets when there's a notification, for example).
We've gotten good at feeling good without building any real strength/ resilience.
If the body gets pleasure easily… why be “motivated” when feeling good is so readily accessible?! It’s a result of good marketing and design, but it creates insecurities, unwanted behavioral patterns, and a lack of ambition for frequent users.
Not to mention, the body releases feel good neurotransmitters when there is external validation or even feel “right”. Even if that means proving insecurities and limiting beliefs right, the body gets rewarded, strengthening the belief that is withholding a good quality of life!

Whether the patterns is to substances, behavior, or even certain emotions (like stress/anxiety), the underlying biochemical addiction is dopamine. Dopamine is the bodies “feel good” chemical reward system for certain behaviors, but if overstimulated or easily obtained, like we are in modern society, motivation drops and addiction starts.
